Vincent took the blond back to the table and kissed her hand as she sat down. He turned around and gave Beka a big smile. There were the fangs again. Beka felt a lump in her throat. She reached for her glass of wine, it was empty.
When she looked up. Vincent was sitting down opposite of her. He smiled again.
His face was wrong. It was waxen. His lips too red. His cheeks were ruddy. The worst were his eyes, pale and lifeless. Beka held down the cry that wanted to come out. Then he was back to his normal self.
“What the hell was that?” She asked.
“What the hell was what?” He asked.
“Your face changed.” Beka said.
“It did?” Vincent said, he felt his cheeks, “What did you see?”
Beka opened her mouth to speak, but shut it. She got up and ran to the door to the upstairs. She had seen his face become a corpset. She hurried through the back rooms of the club, but stopped when she reached the stairs.
She had hallucinated before. While on those medications in the hospital. What she had just seen was not an hallucination. She stood at the bottom of the stairs, trying to get her breath back. She heard the door to the bar open. It was Lorelei getting some more bottles.
